Kids in Christ’s Kingdom (KICK)

** During Lent, our classes will be held at 5:45pm.  This allows our students to attend Lenten services at 7pm on Wednesday evenings.**

KICK classes are held every Wednesday evening (following the SEP school district holiday break schedule and honoring Christian holidays).

KICK Classes grades 1-3 (ages 6-8)

Christian Education and Fellowship are a priority at Christ the King; the Wednesday night KICK program provides these elements for our children.  For the Primary Grades, the classroom is cluttered with costumes and props so the children can act out the Bible Stories (usually multiple times to allow everyone to play a major character from the story).  The emphasis is on learning God’s Word from the Bible in a fun atmosphere with all of the children actively engaged. “You forgot the football” can be heard if the teacher forgets to throw the small foam football used to “call on” students when discussing every-day applications of the Bible Stories and practicing the Bible verse. There is always some time spent praising God with active songs we learned in Vacation Bible School.

KICK Classes grades 4-6 (ages 9-11)

Each class begins with The Lord’s Prayer and memory work.

The content for the memory work at this grade/age level is from the Bible and Luther’s Small Catechism; the students at this level are expected to know the memory work and understand the meaning of the memory work.  We also read Bible stories and relate the Bible story to the world we live in and current events within our world.  During these classes, there are lots of Christian based games played as well.

Confirmation class 103_1803

Confirmation at Christ the King

What is Confirmation?

Confirmation is an event in a Christian’s life where they confirm that the Christian faith they were baptized into is now their own faith which they will continue to live out each day.

How does Confirmation work at Christ the King?

Students entering into 7th Grade begin the two years of class that prepare them for  their Confirmation Day, which is the first Sunday of May during their 8th Grade year. Confirmation Classes are held at the same time at KICK Classes (Wednesdays from 6-7:30 p.m. from September through April.) We currently use a two-year rotation with one year focusing on the Bible and the second year focusing on the beliefs of the Lutheran Church found in Martin Luther’s Small Catechism. The classes are interactive discussions between the pastor and students. We spend time each week sharing what has been going on in our lives and then we move into the lesson of the evening. If you would like to learn more about confirmation classes at Christ the King, please contact Pastor John Schonkaes at revschonkaes@gmail.com.
